Writing Web Content for Search Engines
Many bloggers write their content, while keeping search engines in Mind. It is widely accepted that one should write the content for human being, not for search engines. This way one can actually gain the trust and long term visiting relation of your blog’s reader. However, forgetting Search Engines at all is not advised as well.
Each Post (page) that you write will have its own capability to appear in top ranks in search engines. For example, one of your page, which is about SEO may appear on 124th page, however, the other page which was about a egg recipe may appear in top 10 rankings.
This ranking mechanism is wholly dependent on the algorithm that search engines are using, that mainly considers unique textual content, design pattern of your page, in bound links, bounce back rate and many other factors. If you are unable to comprehend the terms used in previous sentence, forget them. They are not important at this time, while you are getting familiar with Search Engines.
Normally, you pages are ranked in Search Results basing on following points
- Score of your website, normally counted by in-bound links: Means the number of sites that has active link of your page. Suppose we have 2 websites with identical content, search engine will rank high the website that has higher inbound links.
- Uniqueness and size of your page’s content
- Relevance score of other websites
Since, there are thousands of search algorithms, and they are constantly upgraded for enhancements, so it is impossible to get a Perfect Search Engine Optimized page. What we can do is to write our content and design them in such a way that it is widely accepted and liked by search engines.
To get a well structured, and SEO optimized webpage, you need to know and consider following elements.
Keywords
Keywords are single and multiple words (phrases) that you want your webpage to be found under. For example, if I search for “Free Wordpress Themes” on google, then this phrase, “Free Wordpress Themes” is called keyword.
Keywords are said to be the most important factor that can enhance your search engine ranking. Search Engines pick your webpage and display it in results by matching keywords with the content of your website. So dense those Keywords in your content that you want search engines to display your website.
There is lot more to be discussed about the selection of keywords and how to use them. But I will narrate them in latter posts.
Meta Tags
Before knowing what Meta tags are all about, lets see how do they look like
<meta name=”keywords” content=”seo tool and tricks, seo tools, link building software, linking tool, search engine optimization software, SEO software, link proctor”>
<META NAME=”Description” CONTENT=”SEO Tool n Tricks is a one stop platform for biggners to learn Search Engine Optimization, with smart and simple examples”>
Two most widely tags are Keywords and Description Tag, shows in above examples.
Keyword Meta tag helps search engines to get your website indexed with specific keywords. On other hands, Description tag is a phrase of normally 160 to 200 characters. Many Search Engines do not support description tag, but some of then including google displays description snippets in their search results.
We will learn more in coming posts about how to select keywords, descriptions and the content, in order the get optimum traffic to your website.
